What is Pedagogy?

All things Pedagogy

Pedagogy's etymology refers to the instruction of a child, although it is historically has been used to refer to the education of someone at any age.

The traditional method of pedagogy involves a teacher and students, modern educational thought is moving toward experiential and communal learning. The idea of pedagogy, although is what we infer as "traditional," has modernized itself to include many styles of instruction, including more Self-Directed approaches.  Pedagogy is part of a continuum in which learning is transferred from the educator to the learner.

I ran across an interesting article related to pedagogy and how it is not really the opposite of andragogy.  It is very good at relating thedifferences and how pedagogy may play some role in andragological approach to teaching adults.
